Location: Abeokuta, Ogun State
Report To: Care Home Manager

Job Purpose

To plan, prepare, and cook nutritious and well-balanced meals for care home residents in accordance with safe kitchen practices resident’s dietary needs, preferences, and care plans needed to promote their health, wellbeing, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promptly prepare and serve meals that meet the nutritional, cultural, and medical needs of residents
  • Follow weekly menus while also offering flexibility for individual resident preferences
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment in line with food safety legislation & hygiene standards.
  • Ensure proper storage, labelling, and rotation of food to prevent waste
  • Plan menus with the Manager, residents and/or their support network
  • Monitor kitchen supplies and maintain accurate record/documentation
  • Work effectively with care givers and other staff to support special dietary needs

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a cook or chef, preferably in a care home, healthcare, or catering setting
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements for older or vulnerable people
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Food Handlers Certificate or Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate)
